Job Summary
Lead a skilled team in troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and installing commercial HVAC and mechanical plumbing systems while providing day-to-day leadership and technical guidance to technicians. Coordinate work activities, train staff, and oversee preventive maintenance for chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and associated equipment. Respond to equipment failures and facility emergencies, including after-hours calls, while managing multiple priorities and performing physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds and working in confined spaces. Read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to ensure safe operation and reliable campus facilities that support ministry activities.
Required Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, plumbing systems, and preventive maintenance practices
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain complex commercial HVAC systems
- Strong knowledge of chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air handlers, pumps, water treatment systems, and associated mechanical equipment
- Knowledge of the operation, application, and safe use of tools and equipment used in facilities maintenance
- Demonstrated leadership with the ability to coordinate work activities, provide technical direction, train staff, and foster a collaborative team environment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- EPA Section 608 University Certification (or equivalent CFC certification)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Critical thinker with the ability to analyze problems, make sound decisions, and recommend effective solutions
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish professional rapport with management, staff, vendors, contractors, and ministry partners
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a member of a team
- Flexible with the ability to manage multiple priorities, respond to changing needs, and perform well under pressure
- Ability to respond to equipment failures and facility emergencies in a calm, professional, and solution-oriented manner
- Ability to work additional hours and respond to after-hours emergencies as needed
- Strong manual dexterity with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical demands of commercial HVAC maintenance, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and working in confined spaces
- Demonstrated life application of Biblical principles and practices in alignment with CBN's nonprofit Christian mission
Desired Qualifications
- Journeyman or Master Mechanical License preferred
