HVAC Startup Technician

Job Summary
Inspect newly installed HVAC equipment on commercial and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with manufacturer requirements, contract documents, and industry standards prior to owner turnover. Review approved submittals, shop drawings, startup sequences, and installation instructions to verify prerequisites and coordinate startup schedules. Perform startup of commercial systems including AHUs, RTUs, chillers, and VRF units, followed by functional testing, data recording, and verification of safety systems and BAS communication. Troubleshoot startup issues, support commissioning activities with TAB agencies, and complete all startup documentation, deficiency logs, and warranty forms. Coordinate with project teams, manufacturers, and owners to resolve deficiencies and assist with owner training.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
- OSHA 10 minimum
- Valid Driver's License
- Minimum 5 years commercial or industrial HVAC experience
- Lift up to 75 pounds
- Work on rooftops, in mechanical rooms, confined spaces, and outdoors
- Frequent climbing, kneeling, bending, and standing
- Travel between project sites as required
- Wear required PPE
Desired Qualifications
- OSHA 30 preferred
- Manufacturer certifications preferred
- Startup or commissioning experience preferred
- Strong electrical troubleshooting background
- Experience with BAS controls and VFDs preferred
