Job Summary
The HVAC Specialist position involves journey-level maintenance, repair, diagnosis, troubleshooting, construction, fabrication, and preventive maintenance of commercial-level air conditioning systems. Responsibilities include performing skilled analysis and repair, leading skilled fabrication of equipment, quality control analysis, maintaining records, preparing reports, coordinating activities, monitoring contractor performance, and conducting training for employees. A minimum of five years of journey-level experience with HVAC systems is required, alongside relevant certifications, including EPA Section 608 Universal Certification. The position mandates a valid driver license and may involve working in high-security environments.
Required Qualifications
- Five years of journey-level experience working with HVAC systems
- Two years of experience with Pima County as a Trades Maintenance Technician, Facilities Management Specialty Trade Technician or Trades Maintenance Specialist working with HVAC systems
- Must possess a current EPA Section 608 Universal Certification at time of hire or must be able to obtain the EPA Section 605 Universal Certification within the probationary period of employment
- Valid driver license is required at time of application
- Valid AZ driver license is required at time of appointment
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years experience in diagnostics of refrigerant systems, HVAC, and service work
- Universal certification in proper refrigerant practices
- Experience with/knowledge of chillers, low temp, compressors, industrial, and commercial systems, operation and maintenance
