Job Summary
Conduct journey-level maintenance, installation, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling systems. Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair digital electronic and pneumatic control systems, including chiller operations and chilled water systems. Perform preventive maintenance by replacing belts, filters, and bearings, preparing systems for seasonal carry-over, and managing cooling tower and steam boiler water treatment. Install, inspect, and repair plumbing, electrical wiring, and specialized equipment such as refrigerators and industrial freezers. Respond to emergency call backs and perform physical duties including climbing ladders, operating man lifts, and lifting items weighing up to 90 pounds. Maintain air distribution and balance systems while ensuring safe operation of all HVAC equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Charging, starting, and checking for proper operation of HVAC-type equipment and related devices
- Troubleshooting and repairing digital electronic and pneumatic HVAC control systems
- Starting, stopping, and troubleshooting chiller operations and chilled water systems
- Modifying and/or installing natural gas and water piping
- Operating, maintaining, diagnosing problems, and repairing industrial-type HVAC systems and control devices
- Performing basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and sheet metal work
- Welding and repairing materials and brazing pipe
- Cutting, brazing, and soldering high-pressure refrigerant piping
- Must be able to work on building roofs, in man lifts, and on ladders and must know how to properly and safely set up a ladder and operate a man lift
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing approximately 90 pounds, bend, stoop, shovel, and climb ladders
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Additional experience in one or more of the Maintenance trades, as posted by the State, namely electrical, plumbing, carpentry or groundskeeping
