Job Summary
Supervise field crews in the installation of HVAC ductwork and sheet metal systems on commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Assign daily work activities, coordinate manpower with project management, and oversee the layout, fabrication, and installation of duct systems including rectangular, spiral, exhaust, and grease ductwork. Ensure all work complies with project drawings, SMACNA standards, and applicable codes while enforcing OSHA regulations and conducting safety meetings. Coordinate with project managers, superintents, and subcontractors to resolve field conflicts, manage material deliveries, and complete daily reports documenting progress and safety observations. Maintain clean work areas and coordinate inspections, testing, and punch list completion. Requires five or more years of HVAC sheet metal experience in commercial construction.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough understanding of commercial HVAC systems and sheet metal installation methods
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
- Knowledge of SMACNA standards and applicable building codes
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and jobsite safety practices
- Five (5) or more years of HVAC sheet metal experience in commercial construction
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans and specifications
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- OSHA 10 certification required
Desired Qualifications
- Previous foreman or supervisory experience preferred
- OSHA 30 preferred
- Union training preferred
- non-union candidates should possess equivalent experience
