Job Summary
Diagnose, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential heating and cooling systems including furnaces, central air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductless mini-splits. Perform preventive maintenance, seasonal tune-ups, and equipment inspections while testing components to identify system failures. Execute repairs and replacements based on accurate diagnostics and customer needs, explaining problems and repair options clearly. Handle qualifying new equipment sales from start to finish when replacement is appropriate, managing the sale without pressuring customers. Document completed work, follow manufacturer specifications and safety standards, and maintain an organized service vehicle. Travel throughout Carlton, Duluth, Cloquet, and surrounding Northern Minnesota communities to run service calls independently. Full-time Monday–Friday operations with a 1% commission on qualifying sales.
Required Qualifications
- Approximately 2–3 years of HVAC service, repair, troubleshooting, or closely related field experience
- Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing residential heating and cooling equipment
- Ability to independently run HVAC service calls
- Strong HVAC troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair skills
- Experience servicing furnaces and central air conditioning systems
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical HVAC systems
- Understanding of refrigerant systems and proper HVAC service procedures
- Ability to accurately diagnose HVAC problems and determine appropriate repairs
- Valid driver's license
- Strong problem-solving and technical skills
- Professional verbal communication and customer service skills
- Ability to clearly explain HVAC issues and recommended solutions to customers
- Commitment to integrity, responsibility, quality workmanship, and taking pride in your work
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned service calls
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, basements, mechanical rooms, and outdoor environments
- Ability to perform the physical duties associated with HVAC service work
- EPA Section 608 Certification or EPA Universal Certification
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, light commercial HVAC systems, or boiler service is a plus
