Job Summary
Senior HVAC Technician for Uncommon Schools NJ facilities. Responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and modifying HVAC systems in school buildings; manage minor HVAC projects and supervise larger ones, coordinating with outside vendors. Mentors junior staff, communicates with stakeholders, and ensures safety, quality control, and on-time project delivery. Requires significant journeyman-level HVAC experience, ability to read plans and drawings, knowledge of BMS systems, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. Compensation ranges from $43 to $50 per hour, with after-hours availability as needed and a focus on maintaining safe, comfortable educational facilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree equivalent or seven plus years HVAC experience
- EPA refrigerant handling certification
- Valid driver’s license
- New Jersey low pressure boiler certificate (a plus)
- Ability to read as-built plans and construction drawings
- Familiarity with OSHA and Life Safety codes
- Experience with BMS systems
- Strong communication skills (verbal and electronic)
- Ability to work nights and weekends when necessary
- Experience in school, commercial, or multi-family buildings
