Job Summary
As the HVAC-Refrigeration Mechanic at the Culinary Institute of America, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC/R systems and equipment. The role requires interaction with various campus stakeholders and effective communication of safety information. You will perform preventative maintenance, complete work orders accurately, assist contractors, and contribute to minimizing disruptions on campus. A high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification are required, along with at least five years of hands-on HVAC/R experience. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to read blueprints and technical manuals are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum five (5) years experience in the HVAC/R trade under a licensed HVAC/R mechanic
- Valid Driver’s License
- EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigeration Certification
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen or equivalent industrial equipment environment
- Experience working with low voltage controls and/or experience with high voltage systems, up to 480V
- Formal training in 'hot work' safety
- Certifications in mechanical lift operations (scissor and boom)
- Certifications in equipment service directly related to the field of HVAC/R (boilers, air conditioners, etc.)
- OSHA 10 or higher
