Job Summary
Full-time HVAC-R Technology Instructor at Hinds Community College, teaching and developing curriculum for the HVAC-R program at the Vicksburg campus. Responsibilities include delivering day (and potential night) classes, preparing course competency-based outlines, developing lesson materials and laboratory exercises, maintaining attendance and grade records, recommending curriculum updates, assisting in budgeting, supervising a safe lab environment, maintaining equipment, engaging with an active industry advisory committee, advising students, helping with job placement, and fulfilling credentialing requirements. Courses taught include Introduction to Heating and Air Conditioning Technology; Basic Compression – Refrigeration; Brazing and Piping; Controls; Refrigeration System Components; Electricity for HVACR; Air Conditioning I & II; Refrigerant, Retrofit, and Regulations; Heating Systems; Commercial Refrigeration; Heat Load and Air Properties; Special Projects in HVACR; Supervised Work Experience in HVACR; and potential additional courses.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher in HVAC-R Technology or closely related field
- 4 or more years of work experience in the HVAC-R field
- Refrigerant Usage Certification
- Teaching experience preferred
