HVAC Purchasing Specialist

Job Summary
Review vendor quotes, quality metrics, lead times, drawings, and specifications to make buyout recommendations and partner with project teams on vendor selection. Request product submittals, create material tracking logs, write purchase orders, and resolve invoice discrepancies while escalating performance concerns. Manage vendor terms and conditions, host annual supplier reviews, and identify bundling opportunities to reduce project costs. Analyze spend data to track patterns and maintain pricing databases. Assist with process improvement projects, create standard operating procedures, and actively communicate issues to the Purchasing Manager. Requires 3-5 years of procurement experience in a project-based environment and familiarity with the mechanical contracting industry.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred in Supply Chain Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- 3-5 years of procurement experience, specifically in a project-based or job-specific procurement environment
- knowledge of spreadsheets, email, and web-based applications
- Computer skills, including PC experience in Windows environments

- Working knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, policies, accounting, and business contract law
- Ability to take on additional responsibilities as needed, as well as determine and manage priorities with minimal guidance

- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with the mechanical contracting and construction industry
- Knowledge of piping, plumbing, sheet metal materials, and commodities
- Knowledge of HVAC equipment and/or plumbing fixtures
- Knowledge of Smartsheet
- Construction procurement experience
- Solid MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and computer skills
