Job Summary
HVAC Mechanic position within Midland Independent School District. Responsible for assessing HVAC mechanical and refrigeration needs of district facilities, performing repairs, modifications, or installations in a safe and expeditious manner under the guidance of the HVAC Foreman. Key duties include scheduling repairs with the foreman, coordinating with administrators to minimize disturbance, performing periodic maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment, assisting with related trades (electrical, plumbing), and troubleshooting issues with HVAC equipment and controls. Requires EPA Refrigerant Level I & II certification, two years of relevant experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and a valid Texas driver license. Must adhere to safety practices, adapt to changing work assignments, and operate standard tools and district vehicles. Work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings with potential for dirt, exposure to electrical energy, ladders/scaffolding, and tight spaces. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- EPA Certification for Refrigerant Level I & II
- Two years experience as HVAC Mechanical or refrigeration repairman
- Valid Texas Driver License and acceptable driving record
- be able to read and interpret schematics and manuals
- knowledge of HVAC mechanical and refrigeration repairs and repair techniques
- experience with HVAC control systems and energy management control systems
- ability to work independently and follow instructions
- physical capability for lifting, climbing, bending as described (moderate lifting 50 lbs)
