Job Summary
Oversee preventative care, maintenance, inspection, repair, and installation of HVAC, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems across the zoo campus. Diagnose electrical, electronic, and mechanical failures; program and adjust building automation controls; and lead complex projects coordinating with internal trades and external contractors. Mentor team members through hands-on technical training and safe work practices while managing work orders in FacilityDude and developing accurate project estimates. Read blueprints and schematics to complete installations and repairs, ensuring compliance with lockout/tagout and confined-space safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as an HVAC Mechanic
- Ability to pass a physical examination
- Background check
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol screen
- At least 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Enrollment in or completion of technical school training in HVACR systems
- Experience in public facility settings such as nonprofit, commercial, or industrial environments
- Expertise in HVAC maintenance and repair
- Equivalent combinations of experience lived experience, and/or specialized skills
