Job Summary
Assist HVAC technicians with diagnosing heating, cooling, and ventilation system issues, performing preventative maintenance including changing filters and cleaning coils. Help with installation, repair, and replacement of equipment while learning to use diagnostic tools and testing equipment safely. Maintain boilers, furnaces, air conditioning units, and ventilation systems; troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components under supervision. Clean work areas, load and unload supplies, and complete work orders accurately. Respond professionally to resident service requests and follow all safety procedures and policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Ability to successfully pass a background check, drug screening, and driving record review
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; occasionally more with assistance
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, rooftops, and work from elevated positions
- Ability to crawl, kneel, crouch, bend, stoop, and reach overhead
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and rain
- Ability to work in confined spaces when necessary
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate hand and power tools safely
- Ability to read and follow instructions
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting aptitude
- Ability to communicate professionally with residents, coworkers, and supervisors
- Ability to work independently after receiving instruction
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship
Desired Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an HVAC, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Building Maintenance, or related technical training program preferred
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems preferred
- Interest in HVAC, maintenance, or skilled trades
- Ability to learn HVAC repair and maintenance procedures
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Enrollment in an accredited HVAC or skilled trades program
- EPA Section 608 Certification (or working toward certification)
- Previous experience using basic hand tools
- Basic computer or mobile device skills for work order management
