Job Summary
HVAC Journeyman Mechanic for Johnson Controls' commercial service team. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing commercial HVAC systems (chillers, boilers, compressors, pumps, fans), performing maintenance and replacements on mechanical systems, troubleshooting advanced systems (centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, ammonia/hydrocarbon components), conducting shaft alignment and vibration analysis, installing complete HVAC systems, and providing quotes for upgrades/repairs. Travel 10–20% across the region. Requirements include 3–5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience, Universal EPA refrigerant certification, a valid driver’s license, proficiency in mechanical alignment and vibration diagnostics, effective customer communication, and willingness to join UA. The role is a Bargaining Unit Position with competitive wages and benefits; union apprenticeship opportunities available. EOE.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience
- Universal EPA refrigerant certification
- Valid current driver’s license
- Proficiency in mechanical alignment and vibration diagnostics
- Ability to communicate clearly with customers and document service actions
- Willingness to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices (UA)
- Ability to pass a technical proficiency exam
