Job Summary
Review electrical and mechanical plans, specifications, scope of work, and tender documents to perform detailed quantity take-offs for cables, switchboards, distribution boards, lighting fixtures, and electrical equipment. Prepare labour and material estimates, obtain supplier pricing, and calculate project costs to develop competitive quotations and tender submissions. Interpret architectural and engineering drawings to identify project requirements, exclusions, and potential scope gaps, preparing Requests for Information when clarification is needed. Maintain accurate estimating spreadsheets, track material pricing, and assist project teams with budget updates and variations. Work closely with engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients to provide estimating support during tender and pre-construction stages.
Required Qualifications
- Review electrical and mechanical plans, specifications, scope of work, and tender documents
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical controls
- Strong proficiency in CAD
- Demonstrated experience performing electrical quantity take-offs and cost estimates
- Strong understanding of electrical construction methods and materials
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and technical specifications
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical controls (hard requirement)
- Diploma, Certificate, or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Drafting, Construction, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical drafting, estimating, or a combined role
