Job Summary
Deliver electrical testing and commissioning safely for outdoor substation equipment, including pre and post energisation activities for switchgear, protection relays, and auxiliary systems. Perform protection, control, and interface testing using SCADA, Modbus, and IEC 61850 protocols with tools like Omicron and Test Universe. Offer expert technical support during the commissioning phase while championing health, safety, and continuous improvement procedures. This role requires extensive travel within the UK with frequent overnight stays and full UK driving license. Candidates must possess strong hands-on experience in power sector testing and commissioning, specifically in primary and secondary injection, switchgear, and cable testing.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands on experience in power sector testing and commissioning, particularly primary and secondary injection, switchgear, protection relays and cable testing
- Confidence using standard relays and commissioning tools such as Micom, Sepam, Siemens, ABB, Omicron, Test Universe, and IEC 61850
- Proven ability to test, commission, and fault find on protection and control interface and SCADA systems
- Comfortable delivering high quality commissioning paperwork, test records, and as-build drawings, with a heavy focus on accuracy and detail
- Adept at building strong ongoing working relationships with clients, DNOs, manufacturers and colleagues, demonstrating clear and professional communication at all times
- Full UK Driving License
- Right to Work in the UK
