Humanitarian WASH Technical Advisor

Job Summary
The Humanitarian WASH Technical Advisor will lead and ensure quality implementation of emergency WASH programs under the guidance of the Humanitarian Team Leader. Responsibilities include the design and monitoring of WASH responses, providing technical guidance and oversight for compliance with national and international standards, and developing proposal writing for funding opportunities. The role requires a strong background in WASH engineering, particularly in humanitarian settings, with advanced skills in project management, budgeting, and reporting, as well as the ability to mentor field staff and collaborate effectively across various teams.
Required Qualifications
- BSc degree in Hydraulic and/or Water Resources Engineering, or related field
- At least 8–10 years of experience in WASH engineering
- 5+ years in humanitarian or emergency contexts
- Proven experience in designing and implementing WASH programs in displacement, conflict, drought, disease outbreaks, or flooding settings
- Familiarity with USAID/BHA requirements
- Advanced knowledge of solar-powered water systems and sanitation technologies
- Technical proficiency in AutoCAD, EPANET, or similar engineering software
- Proficiency in English (required)
Desired Qualifications
- Prior WASH Cluster or coordination experience
- Experience in integrating WASH with Health, Nutrition, Protection, or GBV programming
- Knowledge of climate-smart WASH technologies and anticipatory action approaches
