Job Summary
Humanitarian Access and Safety (HAS) Manager to support the Gaza Area Office in enabling safe and principled humanitarian operations in Gaza, developing area-based access strategies, updating HAS SOPs, and coordinating training for field staff. The role includes monitoring security contexts, ensuring Duty of Care standards, contributing to advocacy on access barriers, supporting emergency preparedness and crisis management, providing technical support on access tools, capacity building, and ensuring continuity of HAS duties with travel within Gaza. Requires experience negotiating access in volatile environments, and English fluency (Arabic a plus); 12-month contract with 50% travel within operation areas; duty station Gaza, Palestine. Also notes legal eligibility to work in Gaza with no visa sponsorship.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as senior security personnel in humanitarian/recovery context
- Experience negotiating humanitarian access with difficult military and civilian interlocutors
- Experience working in complex and volatile contexts
- Experience working with civilian, governmental and military interlocutors
- Fluency in English (written and verbal)
- Knowledge of Arabic is a plus
- Willingness to travel up to 50% within areas of operation
- Contract: 12 months; Duty station: Gaza, Palestine
