Job Summary

Remote Clinical Research Coordinator/Research Associate role supporting a Deaf adult population in a National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) funded study. Responsibilities include screening for eligibility, obtaining informed consent, conducting baseline and follow-up assessments (via Zoom) with measures of depression, suicide risk, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, alcohol use disorder, beliefs about mental health treatment, and acculturative stress; coordinating scheduling and follow-ups; assisting with data management and recruitment materials (ASL videos); using the Deaf Database to identify eligible participants; conducting eligibility screens; preparing eligibility reports; and supporting study team coordination. Requires fluency in ASL, knowledge of Deaf culture, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and commitment for up to 4 years. Eligible participants include Deaf adults with mental health disorders. Must complete HSPP and NIH GCP training and engage in available cultural competency training; familiarity with IRB procedures and REDCap preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Associate's degree and completion of 6 months in the Human Subject Research Coordinator Trainee program required
  • 1 year of experience in human subject research coordination, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • clinical work with Deaf individuals (i.e., psychology, social work, counseling, etc.) required
  • Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and capable of adapting to the language needs of diverse Deaf individuals required
  • Experience working with the Deaf community required
  • Maintain eligibility to participate in research involving human subjects by completing the Human Subjects Protection Program (HSPP) and NIH’s Good Clinical Practice training required
  • Familiarity IRB procedures preferred
  • Familiarity with REDCap preferred
