Job Summary
Public sector HR Technician supports the Training and Development program while providing confidential administrative, technical, and paraprofessional support across Human Resources programs. Core duties include coordinating training calendars, scheduling courses, preparing training materials, managing registrations and attendance, coordinating training logistics and equipment, communicating with participants and supervisors, organizing meetings and special projects, tracking course completion for mandatory training, assisting with recruitment, benefits, employee relations, records, training, and related functions, and compiling data to support program evaluation and decision-making. The role emphasizes customer service to employees, departments, applicants, and the public, and requires maintaining records, databases, and reports with a focus on data accuracy and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Human Resources Technician I: Requires a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to completion of high school and two years of experience in a human resources, workers' compensation or risk management function or 18 months experience in a human resources, workers' compensation or risk management function plus college coursework in a related field.
- Human Resources Technician II: Requires a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to two years of college coursework in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Occupational Safety, or a related field, and 18 months of para-professional human resources, workers' compensation or risk management related experience in a position comparable to a Human Resources Technician I.
- License: Depending on assignment, possession of a valid California Class C driver's license may be required.
