Job Summary
HR Specialist in a warehouse/distribution environment handling payroll, timekeeping, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, compliance, and HR administration. Responsibilities include processing bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried warehouse staff, reviewing timecards and attendance, resolving payroll inquiries, coordinating hires/terminations/promotions, conducting new-hire orientation, maintaining HRIS and personnel files, supporting benefits enrollment, ensuring compliance with FLSA/FMLA/ADA/OSHA, assisting with workers’ compensation and safety reporting, and coordinating training and performance development. Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and 2–4 years of HR experience with payroll processing; proficiency with HRIS/payroll systems (e.g., ADP, UKG, Paychex); English/Spanish bilingual preferred; SHRM-CP or PHR a plus. Location: Chicago, IL.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–4 years of HR experience with payroll processing, preferably in a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment
- Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws and payroll best practices
- Experience supporting an hourly, shift-based workforce
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (ADP, UKG, Paychex, or similar)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
