Job Summary
Oversee district-wide compliance with federal and state laws, including Title IX and Title VI mandates, by developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs. Conduct and coordinate investigations into discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints involving students, employees, and third parties, while resolving issues in accordance with established procedures. Provide guidance to administrators on corrective actions and collaborate with HR, Legal Counsel, and other departments to ensure coordinated responses. Support school safety initiatives by troubleshooting safety devices, assisting with lockdown drills, monitoring emergency batteries, and serving as the primary safety resource for building committees. Maintain current knowledge of West Virginia regulations and prepare detailed reports for senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- A certified or qualified retired law-enforcement officer who meets all the requirements to carry a firearm as a qualified retired law-enforcement officer under the Law-Enforcement Officer Safety Act of 2004, as amended, pursuant to 18 U.S.C. 926C(c), carries that firearm in a concealed manner, and has on their person official identification in accordance with the act
- Certification or specialized training in workplace investigations, Title IX investigations, or compliance administration
- Experience serving as a Title IX Coordinator or conducting civil rights investigations
- Experience working in public education or a governmental agency
- Knowledge of West Virginia Code, West Virginia Board of Education policies, and applicable federal education regulations
- A certification from an advanced training in school resource officer setting
- A certification in first aid, AED, CPR, and Narcan administration
- A clear drug and criminal background check
- A patient attitude and even temper
- The ability to mentor and interact with students in the PK-12 setting
- A moral and ethical role model for students
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and the Microsoft Office online suite applications
- The ability to create detailed reports for the Superintendent and other relevant senior leadership team members regarding investigations, Title IX, and BHI complaints
Desired Qualifications
- Applicants who have been dismissed or who have had their contracts non-renewed for cause by any school system, who have recent unsatisfactory evaluations by any school system, who demonstrate unsatisfactory interview performance, and/or who receive unfavorable reference recommendations from related work experience will not be eligible for consideration for employment with EPIC
