Job Summary
Human Resources Manager for a confidential, rapidly growing boutique geopolitical advisory and government relations firm. The role is a true player-coach responsible for building the firm’s first formalized HR infrastructure from the ground up, including an employee handbook, core compliance policies, and performance review cadence; architecting a transparent compensation plan and managing day-to-day benefits; serving as a trusted employee advocate; overseeing onboarding of new lateral hires and client practice groups; and designing baseline L&D and retention pathways to support high-performing staff within a flat organizational structure. The ideal candidate will bring 3–5+ years of HR experience in high-touch professional services, exceptional discretion, independence to operate without heavy administrative hand-holding, and comfort working in an ecosystem connected to federal policy. This is a Washington, DC-based, in-office leadership role.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years HR experience in professional services environment (e.g., boutique or specialized law firms, elite lobbying groups, or boutique management consultancies)
- Exceptional diplomatic finesse and discretion
- Ability to build HR infrastructure from scratch
- Strong competency in compensation modeling and benefits management
- Experience serving as an ombudsman for employees
- Experience with onboarding lateral hires and multi-person practice groups
- Experience designing learning & development and retention tracks
