Job Summary
NZTA | Waka Kotahi invites graduates to join the Emerging Professionals Programme in Human Resources. This 2-year development journey is based in Wellington and includes a minimum of three work rotations across the People and Safety Group functions (e.g., people operations, health and safety, wellbeing, organisational capability, culture). The role offers hands-on experience, opportunities to contribute to a safer, inclusive, high-performing public sector organisation, and exposure to data analytics and AI concepts. You’ll develop practical skills, build professional networks, and gain insight into how people-centered practices support outcomes in a large, complex organisation. Applicants should be working towards or hold a bachelor’s degree in HR, with a degree grade requirement and a recent graduation window. The programme emphasizes diversity and inclusion, Te Tiriti o Waitangi knowledge, and te Tiriti/Tikanga Māori, with a 2-year development journey and rotations, embedded in NZTA | Waka Kotahi teams. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
- Will graduate within the past two years by February 2027
- Minimum B grade average in completed or current degree
- Knowledge of te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance within the public sector
- Willingness to develop understanding of te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Eligibility to live and work in New Zealand
