Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary
Administer group benefits and pension programs while coordinating disability management and employee leave processes. Support employees and leaders throughout the leave lifecycle, including documentation, accommodations, and return-to-work planning. Draft communications, provide guidance on HR policies, and assist with investigations and progressive discipline. Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data while contributing to the development of HR policies and recruitment activities. Co-chair the Employment Equity Committee and collaborate on People & Culture projects to enhance the employee experience. Work five days per week from the designated office in Halifax, reporting to the Director, People & Culture.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline with a concentration in Human Resources
- 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Experience administering employee benefits, disability management, accommodations, or leave programs
- Knowledge of benefit plans, pension administration, and applicable employment legislation
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills
- A high level of discretion and attention to detail when handling confidential information
- A proactive mindset, strong follow-through, and a willingness to take initiative
- Working in the designated office five (5) days per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting wellness, employee engagement, or employee experience initiatives is considered an asset
- CPHR designation, or progress toward obtaining a CPHR designation, is considered an asset
