Job Summary
The Human Resources Coordinator will support the day-to-day operations of the HR department at a private country club in California. Responsibilities include full-cycle recruiting for hourly and coordinator-level roles, onboarding and new hire orientation, processing I-9/W-4/direct deposit/payroll-related paperwork, maintaining ATS records, assisting with semi-monthly payroll, ensuring compliance with California wage-and-hour laws, administering benefits and leaves (FMLA/CFRA/CFD), managing 401(k) communications, tracking California Paid Sick Leave, maintaining confidential personnel files, and supporting HRIS data integrity and reporting. The role requires knowledge of CA employment law, experience with HRIS/Paycom, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. On-site in Santa Barbara, CA."
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Minimum 2–3 years of HR coordinator or generalist experience, preferably in hospitality, private club, food & beverage, or related service industry
- Demonstrated knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance requirements
- Experience with HRIS platforms and applicant tracking systems; Paycom experience a plus
- Strong organizational skills and professionalism; confidentiality and sound judgment in sensitive situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred but not required
