Job Summary
HR Business Partner for Faculty (HR Generalist) providing consultation to university leaders across schools and departments. Manages full lifecycle of faculty talent acquisition and contract renewals while aligning HR practices with institutional goals. Leads talent assessment, performance management, and employee and team development; serves as conduit for HR services and collaborates with HR Leadership, Benefits Administrator, Payroll. Supports onboarding/orientation of new faculty and adjuncts; ensures compliance with federal/state employment laws and university policies; maintains employee data in HR systems; assists with job changes/compensation changes; guides hiring managers in posting vacancies and screening applicants; participates in new faculty orientations and coordination with Academic Affairs; manages I-9 documentation and non-citizen status monitoring; contributes to policy/process improvement; promotes a positive work environment and effective communication with students, parents, faculty, staff, and managers; does not sponsor H-1B visas.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred
- Five or more years of broad HR generalist experience in a customer-focused environment
- Experience in higher education preferred
- Workday and/or Oracle experience highly preferred
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and compliance requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures and interact with diverse populations
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Experience with HR data maintenance and reporting (Excel/HR systems)
- Experience supporting faculty engagement or academic affairs preferred
- Demonstrated ability to influence and coach across an organization
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of deferred compensation practices and faculty contract structures
- Support with New Faculty/Adjunct orientations and HR processes
- I-9 documentation and employment eligibility verification
