Job Summary
Serve as an HR generalist supporting the senior leadership and branch management teams for the Midwest multi-site operation in Michigan and NW Ohio. Manage labor relations for two Union collective bargaining agreements and handle all employee relations issues including investigations. Leverage relationship-building skills to navigate business opportunities and concerns from team members and leadership while ensuring compliance with HR policies and legal requirements. Coordinate and deliver training sessions on compliance, leadership development, and diversity and inclusion. Develop relationships at colleges and trade schools and assist in implementing HR policies that align with best practices. Travel approximately 15-20% to regional branches quarterly. Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities. Report to the VP of HR Construction Equipment Group.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of progressive HR experience
- Must have a passion for HR
- Must have valid driver's license, clean driving record and automobile insurance
- Must be comfortable speaking with large groups of employees or presenting to the management team
- 2+ years of HRIS experience
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally able to lift 26 to 50 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in HR or related discipline
- Previous labor relations experience
- Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Must be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Must be able to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; UltiPro
