Job Summary

HR Assistant provides essential administrative support for BANAC's daily HR operations, including recruitment support, maintaining employee records, handling employee inquiries, and ensuring confidentiality. The role reports to the Director of Human Resources and supports employee relations, performance management, and HR projects; maintains electronic filing, tracks employment movements, prepares employment verification letters, and audits licenses/accreditations (e.g., Ontario Driver’s Licenses). Requires 2+ years HR experience; Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related field preferred; CHRP strongly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Teams) is expected; strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work independently within the HR team. Work environment includes BANAC clinics/offices with occasional travel; requires valid G-class driver’s license and background checks; Indigenous ancestry preference noted. The position is full-time with a benefits package and opportunities for professional development.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of professional Human Resources experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related discipline, preferred
  • Human Resources certifications including CHRP strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including SharePoint and Teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Must have valid Ontario Driver’s License (Class G)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check required
  • AED/CPR certification required or willing to obtain
  • Ability to work independently with support from HR Department
  • Experience with employee relations, performance management, and HR projects
  • Knowledge of Ontario employment laws and practices
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Attention to detail and deadline-driven
  • Indigenous cultural safety training and reflexive practice reminder (contextual alignment)
