Job Summary
Lead day-to-day HR operations by managing recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding while serving as the primary resource for employee relations, coaching managers, and resolving workplace concerns. Oversee performance management, workforce planning, and compensation/benefits administration including open enrollment and leave processes. Ensure compliance with employment laws, manage labor relations and collective bargaining agreements, and coordinate Board of Directors administration, governance records, and meeting logistics. This role requires 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, including at least three years in a unionized environment, with a Bachelor's degree in HR or a related field. Based in Pittsburgh, the position offers a competitive salary starting at $55,000 and includes a 403(b) match, medical/dental/vision, and 12 weeks of paid new parent leave.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience
- At least three years working in a unionized environment
- Experience administering collective bargaining agreements
- Strong knowledge of employment law, labor relations, and HR best practices
- Experience conducting employee relations investigations and resolving workplace issues
- Outstanding communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
- Experience with HR information systems and workforce reporting
- Standard business hours are 9:00-5:00 Monday through Friday, with occasional evening or weekend work to support organizational events and Board meetings
Desired Qualifications
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
- Experience working in nonprofit organizations, public media, higher education, or other mission-driven environments
