Job Summary
Administers FMLA/Leave of Absence for all Fort Wayne Community Schools employees, ensuring compliance with federal FMLA regulations and applicable state/local leave laws. Determines employee eligibility, tracks leave usage and entitlement (including 12-week calculations), reviews certifications, and maintains confidential records. Serves as subject-matter expert on FMLA rights and responsibilities, advising and coaching leaders on managing performance and attendance without violating protections. Oversees issuance and receipt of required notices (Eligibility, Rights & Responsibilities, Designation), coordinates clarifications/recertifications, and coordinates return-to-work processes and accommodations (ADA and related programs). Partners with legal counsel or HR leadership on complex cases, supports data reporting and continuous improvement, and provides training to supervisors and administrators on leave triggers and proper documentation.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma and four or more years in Human Resources
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership and Supervision or business-related field or commensurate experience (preferred)
- HR experience with employees across tenure stages (preferred)
