Job Summary
Develop and monitor organization-wide wellness programs targeting physical, emotional, social, and financial components to achieve a culture of health among county employees, retirees, and families. Lead community outreach and partnerships to expand program offerings, while serving as the subject matter expert to train teams and volunteers. Manage the Champions program, facilitate meetings, and collaborate with HR functional teams to design and implement projects. Act as the lead communicator for initiatives like "Wellness Wednesdays" and the "COIN" webpage, and work with CIGNA to increase participation in lifestyle management programs. Conduct research on best-in-class initiatives, generate tracking reports, and inspect fitness facility areas for maintenance and safety. Assist specialists in facilitating wellness classes and consult with other departments to align efforts. Maintain knowledge of federal and state laws affecting wellness programs and incentives.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree
- At least 2 years of experience in the health and wellness field
- An equivalent combination of education (not less than a high school diploma/GED), training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License
- Current CPR/Basic Life Support, AED, and First Aid Certification
- Considerable knowledge of wellness promotion and prevention practices
- Understanding of trends and best practices in employee health and wellbeing
- Considerable knowledge of Federal, State and local laws, regulations and agency policies in the creation of wellness programs or incentives affecting HIPAA, EEOC, GINA, ADA, or other laws in the human resources area
- General knowledge of human resources practices and understanding how one action may impact wellness initiatives and the integration with benefits
- Skill in making presentations to small and large groups
- Excellent consultative skills to shape solutions
- Ability to conduct research, collect, interpret and analyze data to understand workforce trends, patterns, best in class research and develop logical conclusions
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and work processes
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with audiences at all levels in the organization
- Ability to build strong partnerships and collaborate and work effectively with others
- Ability to use a computer and related software
- Must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
