Job Summary

HR Operations Specialist executes Workday-based payroll/benefits/leave processing, ensures data integrity, and supports compliance for a large employee-owned electrical contractor. Responsibilities include processing complex payroll transactions (garnishments, final checks, tuition reimbursement), benefits life event processing, leave case management, Workday transactions (hires, terminations, promotions, position management), auditing transactions before downstream impact, managing the Workday inbox and ServiceNow queue, and supporting ER documentation and immigration coordination (H1-B). The role also covers vendor/contingent worker administration, total rewards administration, recurring data audits, and learning & development support. Requires 2–4 years of HR operations or HRIS experience, strong Workday HCM skills, and effective attention to detail and communication. Travel up to 10%. Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field preferred; combination of education and experience accepted. On-site work at office locations in Sterling, VA and Charlotte, NC with potential for internal career growth and ESOP participation. Required Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in HR operations or a related role
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; combination of education and experience accepted
  • Strong Workday HCM experience — transaction processing, data entry, and reporting
  • Knowledge of leave administration, payroll processes, and benefits operations
  • FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and applicable state leave laws

Desired Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in an HR operations, HRIS, or HR coordinator role
  • Strong Workday HCM experience — transaction processing, data entry, and reporting
  • Demonstrated knowledge of leave administration, payroll processes, and benefits operations
  • Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, and applicable state leave laws
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred; combination of education and experience accepted
