Job Summary
Oversee the daily workflow of the HR department, handling discipline, terminations, and investigations while providing guidance to HR generalists and state directors. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws by reviewing policies and staying current on regulatory trends and best practices. Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff as needed when recruiters are unavailable, ensuring all actions align with company policy and integrity. Report directly to the Director of Human Resources and navigate facilities with up to 50% travel required. This role supports SJCS' mission of cultivating caring communities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across four states and the District of Columbia.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of four years of human resource management experience will be considered in place of a degree.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
- Obtain a valid health certificate to meet SJCS or current funding authority requirements as required.
- Meet the SJCS and the funding authority's requirement of criminal background and record checks.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Travel up to 50%.
Desired Qualifications
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is highly desired.
