Job Summary
Serve as the on-site HR resource for employees and supervisors at a custom shipbuilding facility, handling employee relations, performance reviews, and recruiting coordination. Coach supervisors on difficult conversations and document issues while managing onboarding, benefits, leaves, and confidential records through the HRIS. Generate workforce reports on turnover and absenteeism, ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, and act as the primary point of contact for calls, mail, and visitors. This hands-on role supports a busy maritime shipyard with a focus on relationship-driven management and operational organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- 3+ years of HR Generalist experience, preferably in manufacturing, construction, maritime, or industrial environments
- Strong employee relations and coaching skills
- Working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, on-site setting
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- experience with HRIS
- SHRM-CP preferred
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Valid driver's license
