Job Summary
Apply Human Engineering knowledge to the analysis, design, and evaluation of complex aerospace systems. Define system performance requirements to ensure safe human operation of physical and functional interfaces. Develop research methodologies to test and evaluate developmental prototypes while coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to integrate HE considerations into system design. Conduct user engagement activities via interviews, focus groups, and field studies throughout the design process. Coordinate with program teams to meet requirements under military standards such as MIL-STD-1472 and MIL-STD-1787. Occasional business travel and after-hours support may be required. This 100% onsite role in Everett, WA, supports Boeing's Mobility, Surveillance, and Bombers portfolio within the Defense, Space & Security division.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Cognitive Psychology or other Human Engineering related field of study
- Level 3 - Bachelor's degree and 5+ years' experience or Master's and 3+ years
- 1+ years of work experience in Human Engineering or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
- Final Post-Start is required
- Ability to obtain special program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only
- Ability to derive Human Engineering requirements
- Experience supporting defense programs
- Experience in program documentation of the HE processes and products in a format consistent with US Military Data Item Descriptions (e.g. Human Engineering Program Plan, Human Engineering Design Approach Document – Operator, Human Engineering Design Approach Document – Maintainer, Human Engineering Test Plan, Human Engineering Test Report, et. al)
- Experience with the user interface software prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Axure RP)
- Usability software
- Knowledge in Human Perception and Cognition
- Experience with Human Performance Modeling
- Experience in workload assessments and situation awareness assessments such as NASA TLX
- Experience in conducting tasks analyses and mapping user workflow
- Ability to evaluate designs against Human Readiness Levels (HRLs)
- Experience in Agile Development
- Previous experience developing style guides and implementing UI design tenets
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
- This position is expected to be 100% onsite
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
- Final Post-Start is required

Desired Qualifications
- Level 2- Bachelor and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- Level 3- Bachelor and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- Level 4- Bachelor and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
- Associate Certification from Board Certification in Professional Ergonomics or equivalent education
- Understanding of Human System Integration (HSI) in the defense acquisition process
- Knowledge of military standards (such as MIL-STL-1472, MIL-STD-1474, MIL-STD-2525, MIL-STD-1787, MIL-STD-3009, MIL-STD 411F, DoDI 5000.95, and JSSG-2010)
- Experience with Usability software
