Hull/Insert Fitter

Job Summary
Fit hull butts, critical inserts, and penetrations while laying out, fabricating, and installing foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components, and deck packages. Interpret construction drawings and blueprints to align parts using jacks, clips, and wedges, then tack-weld structural parts as required. Utilize hands and power tools in steel fabrication, developing knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up, burning, and grinding operations. Work in restricted or confined spaces and adhere to company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures. Available to work all shifts at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent OR a minimum of 2 years related technical experience
- Shipfitting, metal fabrication and/or relevant experience or formal training
- Available to work all shifts
- Ability to work at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functions
- Basic mathematical skills
- Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools
Desired Qualifications
- Steel fabrication experience
- Experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment
- Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
- Military/Navy experience
