Job Summary
Lead and assist physical education classes using the FitKids Curriculum, supervise students during lunch and recess, and coach or assist with school and community sports teams. Provide one-on-one and small-group student support, implement behavior-support strategies, and reinforce social-emotional skill-building throughout the day. Create a welcoming, safe, and active play environment while building strong relationships with youth to foster confidence, leadership, and healthy habits. Gather program surveys and roster information as needed. Complete 900 hours of service between August 2026 and July 2027, attending orientation, bi-weekly timesheets, and organization-wide community service days.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
- Minimum age of 18
- High school diploma, GED, or in progress
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to fulfill all AmeriCorps service requirements
- Successful completion of background screenings
- Ability to travel to Strive partner school/CBO sites throughout New Castle County
- Ability to travel outside of New Castle County (occasional)
Desired Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships
- Interest in education, mentoring, coaching, Social-Emotional Learning, youth development, leadership, or athletics
- Comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.)
- Previous experience teaching, coaching, or facilitating
- Personal laptop use
