Job Summary
Lead the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality systems across operations. Promote and comply with HSEQ Management Plans and Strategic HSEQT Strategy while developing, maintaining, and reviewing project-specific plans including risk registers and traffic management protocols. Conduct regular workplace audits and inspections to coach supervisors, analyze HSEQ data for trend identification, and produce internal and client-facing reports. Ensure accurate information within electronic Safety Management Systems like INX and Mitti, support HSEQ initiatives and toolbox talks, and coordinate Health and Safety Committees. Maintain a strong field presence with approximately 50–60% of time spent engaging with workers and mentoring the Project Leadership Team. Report to the Project Manager with support from the Regional HSEQ Superintendent on a 4/3 roster.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a similar HSEQ role within the mining, construction or relevant heavy industry sector
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety
- Australian 'C' Class Driver's Licence
- Sound knowledge of applicable State occupational health and safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice
- Demonstrated experience in HSEQ auditing, inspections, incident investigations and delivering safety initiatives
- Strong analytical, reporting and data visualisation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
- Effective organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- A proactive approach to safety, continuous improvement and progressive learning
- The ability to engage constructively and respectfully with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds
- A self-motivated, enthusiastic and results-focused approach, with a pragmatic and solutions-oriented mindset
Desired Qualifications
- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Experience with INX, BI tools and Mitti (SafetyCulture)
