Job Summary
Develop and maintain HSE programs, policies, and procedures across research and operational environments. Deliver training on safety policies and best practices while supporting investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses through root cause analysis and corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address safety concerns, conduct inspections and audits, and track corrective actions. Maintain systems and documentation for HSE activities, including incident reports, training records, and regulatory permits. Stay informed on regulatory changes to support organizational compliance and assist in developing emergency response plans. Analyze trends using HSE metrics and dashboards to drive continuous improvement. This hybrid position (Wednesday & Thursday onsite) in Evanston, IL, supports UL's mission to advance safety science and create a more secure world.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Health, Safety, Environment or related field

- Previous experience in a research or laboratory setting preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations, standards, and best practices
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills

- Basic analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
