Job Summary
HSE Coordinator at a Canadian manufacturing facility responsible for supporting and administering the Health, Safety, and Environment program at the Red Deer plant. Serve as the primary HSE contact for employees, supervisors, and site leadership; develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety policies and safe work practices; conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and JHAs; investigate and track incidents; coordinate injury/incident reporting and training; support emergency planning and drills; promote PPE, machine guarding, lockout/tagout, WHMIS, and other safety controls; assist with audits, safety meetings, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement of safety culture; provide guidance on safe work practices and maintain safety documentation and training records.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in a health and safety role within a manufacturing, industrial, or plant environment.
- Working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation and standards relevant to manufacturing operations.
- Experience conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with manufacturing safety practices, including machine guarding, lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, chemical handling (WHMIS), and equipment safety.
- Ability to maintain accurate safety documentation, including incident reports, inspection records, training logs, and corrective action tracking.
- Proficient with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) and safety tracking systems.
- Able to work independently while supporting site leadership and contributing to a team environment with strong communication skills.
