Job Summary
HSE Coordinator role based in Mississauga, ON, focused on overseeing and administering Bird’s Safety Program and monitoring safety compliance on assigned project(s). Responsibilities include maintaining safety statistics and incident data, assisting in safety investigations, planning safety aspects of new projects, coordinating worker safety orientations and trainings, conducting site inspections and toolbox talks, administering the COR program, and communicating status to management. The position may involve acting as a subject matter expert on RFQs, RFPs, and EOIs, including writing and reviewing narratives and providing information for project resumes. Requires minimum 3 years of field safety experience with Construction Safety Officer credentials (CHSO or NCSO) and post-secondary education in HSE is an asset. Must be able to motivate others, mentor effectively, and operate in a fast-paced construction environment while adhering to local Health & Safety Acts, policies, regulations, and standards.
Required Qualifications
- At least 3 years of field safety experience
- Construction Safety Officer (CHSO or NCSO) is required
- Strong mentoring skills
- Be a results oriented leader capable of working productively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Have good working knowledge of local government Health & Safety Acts, Policies, Regulations, and Industry Standards as they apply to the construction industry
