HSE Business Director (BUD) Sustainability

Job Summary

Formulate and implement policies, procedures, and job-specific safety plans for construction operations that comply with regulatory and client program requirements. Conduct regular site inspections to coordinate safety policy implementation, review construction plans for evacuation and design hazards, and test working areas for noise, toxic, and other hazards using specialized equipment. Lead accident and near-miss investigations to ascertain causes, document findings with OSHA forms, and present corrective action recommendations to Segment unit Operations. Coordinate business unit safety training programs, toolbox talks, and first aid/CPR skills delivery while maintaining knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and ANSI standards. Maintain DOT compliance and support safety standards for the Segment fleet and driving practices. Communicate risks and opportunities to executive leadership and regional HSE teams to align HSE functions with segment objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related technical field, or BCSP certification(s)
  • Proven record of strategic thinking and implementation of establishing programs and delivering significant continuous performance improvements
  • Must have a working understanding of regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.), with extensive experience in the development, maintenance and implementation of HSE systems
  • Knowledgeable in the fundamentals of safety management, risk assessments and reduction, industrial hygiene, loss prevention, ergonomics and occupational health
  • Must have strong leadership, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to be persuasive and credible across multiple organizational levels and cultures resulting in improved HSE performance
  • Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of variables while meeting quality, timeliness and cost requirements
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts and statistical inference
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary
  • 50%+ travel required for this position

Desired Qualifications

  • 10 years of previous experience leading HSE for a regional organization, MEP construction
  • Certification as a Safety Professional, BCSP
