Job Summary
Provide onsite health, safety, and environmental support during shutdown and maintenance activities in the Gladstone region. Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and safety observations while facilitating pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings. Assist with risk assessments, JHAs, SWMS, and permit-to-work systems, and investigate incidents, hazards, and near misses. Monitor compliance with site procedures and statutory requirements, and support injury management and return-to-work programs. Coach supervisors and work crews on safe work practices to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This role supports major maintenance campaigns for leading clients in mining and heavy industrial operations.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as an HSE Advisor within mining, shutdown, maintenance, construction, or heavy industry environments
- Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and industry best practices
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments
- A proactive approach to safety leadership and workforce engagement
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum requirement)
- Construction White Card
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to pass pre-employment medicals and drug & alcohol screening
Desired Qualifications
- Diploma or higher qualification in WHS, Safety, Occupational Health, or a related discipline
- Mining and shutdown experience
- ICAM or TapRooT investigation training
- Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator experience
- Working at Heights and Confined Space certification
- Experience with contractor management systems and permit-to-work processes
- Queensland mining site experience
