Job Summary
Under direct supervision, make, repair, adapt, and rectify tools, dies, and mechanical equipment with high precision by interpreting blueprints and consulting specifications. Operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or assemble components. Fit and weld parts in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, modify dies for engineering changes, and verify work piece conformance using measuring tools. Maintain a clean work area, follow safe work habits, and perform other duties as assigned. Requires manual dexterity and ability to handle material up to 100 pounds. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Knowledge of monitoring gauges, dials or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
- Ability to read and understand work orders
- Knowledge of mathematics and its application
- Manual dexterity
- Arm-hand steadiness
- Multi-limb coordination
- Ability to handle material up to 100 pounds
