Job Summary
Portageville Head Start/Early Head Start seeks an HS Teacher to provide a safe, supervised educational setting for children in Head Start programs. The role involves coordinating and implementing curriculum to promote School Readiness goals, engaging families, and facilitating transitions to kindergarten. Responsibilities include adapting curriculum for diverse learners, conducting classroom activities, field trips, and outdoor play, and ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with a CDA credential (or higher degrees in ECE/ECD as applicable by track), infant/toddler or preschool classroom teaching experience (2+ years preferred), strong written/spoken communication, bilingual English/Spanish desirable, computer skills, a valid Missouri driver's license with proof of insurance for home visits, CPR & First Aid certification within 30 days, and annual physicals. Enrollment in Central Background Registry and annual renewals are part of the process. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED and Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (if CDA not held, must be obtained within 3 months)
- Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Early Childhood Development (ECD) for Head Start Teacher; transcripts required
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre K) or Associate’s Degree or higher with coursework equivalent to Early Childhood Education; transcripts required
- Valid Missouri Driver's License and proof of insurance; own vehicle for home visits
- Pediatric CPR & First Aid certification within 30 days of employment; physical required at hire; background registry enrollment renewals every two years
