Job Summary
Head Start Teacher responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy learning environment and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for enrolled children. Duties include planning and documenting activities, supporting parent involvement and literacy initiatives (e.g., literacy RIF), coordinating with teaching staff, ensuring licensing compliance per TDFPS Minimum Licensing, conducting health checks, supervising children at all times, ensuring child-staff ratios, and maintaining confidential records. The role requires effective communication with families and community resources, adherence to Head Start standards, and compliance with background checks, drug screening, and travel as needed. Sign-on bonus offered. The position requires a High School diploma or GED, 18+ years old, and valid Texas driving privileges with acceptable MVR; some travel within the service area is expected.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Teacher assistant or daycare experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and management
- Ability to work with diverse populations
- Ability to understand and carry out instructions and procedures
- Willingness to take and pass a drug/alcohol test and comply with Drug Free Agency Policy
- Must pass regular criminal history checks
- Must submit to TB tests as required
- Must possess valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s permit and maintain satisfactory MVR as required
