Job Summary

Deliver instruction aligned to Texas state standards while differentiating lessons to personalize learning and minimize student disengagement. Monitor student progress through analytical methods, maintain an emotionally safe classroom climate, and implement IEP or 504 accommodations as needed. Partner with special educators to determine appropriate modifications and serve as a test administrator during state and district assessment windows, which may require overnight travel. Utilize proficiency with virtual platforms including Zoom, Google Drive, and Blackboard to execute lessons in a home-based setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Texas state certified
  • Live within the state of Texas
  • Completed a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification in your area of instruction
  • 1-3 years of teaching experience in a Texas Public School
  • Being authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Proficient computer skills and comfort with technology
  • Ability to produce significant output with minimal wasted effort
  • Acts without being told what to do and brings new ideas to the faculty
  • Demonstrates the ability to quickly and proficiently understand and absorb new information
  • Demonstrates persistence and willingness to go the distance to get something done for a student
  • Detail oriented
  • Maintains stable performance under pressure
  • Generates new and innovative approaches to the classroom or work-related problems
  • Possesses a track record of working hard or a willingness to work hard
  • Possesses listening skills where one seeks to understand other viewpoints
  • Speaks and writes clearly and articulately in all forms of communication including eMail
  • Follows through with verbal and written agreements with students, colleagues, and administration
  • Solicits feedback and reacts calmly to suggestions
  • Reaches out to peers and cooperates with supervisors to establish an overall collaborative working relationship
  • Adjust quickly to changing priorities or conditions
  • Organizes and manages time wisely
  • Uses varied communication vehicles and opportunities to promote classroom dialogue
  • Occasional district and statewide travel
  • In-person professional development prior to the school year starting
  • In-person trainings may also be required throughout the school year
  • Serve as a test administrator during all state testing examination windows and district assessment testing as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of the accommodations and modifications to be implemented in an IEP or 504 plan
  • Implement any accommodations and modifications through the development of appropriate assignments and assessments
  • Partner with special educators to determine the appropriate implementation of accommodations and modifications for specific content standards
  • Comply with the Texas Educator Code of Ethics, the ResponsiveEd Employee Handbook, the ResponsiveEd Student-Parent Handbook, administrative directives and other manuals and procedures documents

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with mastery-based or individualized learning approaches to student education
  • 1-3 years of virtual teaching experience
  • Have two or more years of documented experience teaching online courses for students in Grades 3-12
  • Successfully completed continuing professional development specific to online learning every three years
