Job Summary
Instruct players in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training while establishing written behavior standards and providing constant supervision. Develop regular practice schedules, assign duties to assistant coaches, and monitor academic performance to ensure eligibility compliance. Manage equipment inventory, submit rosters and statistics, and model sportsmanlike conduct toward players, officials, and spectators. Represent the team by communicating with media, booster clubs, and service organizations as requested.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Iowa Coaching Endorsement or Coaching Authorization
- Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Coaching and/or leadership experience
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting (70 lbs), carrying
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis
- Maintain confidentiality
- Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned
- All candidates offered a position will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check
- All candidates offered a position will be required to successfully pass a child and adult abuse registry check
- Certain positions may require fingerprinting
- Certain positions may require a drug and alcohol test
- Certain positions may require a physical capacity test
- Certain positions may require a motor vehicle record check
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, coaching, or related field
- Knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program
- First Aid and CPR
- Knowledge of conference rules and regulations
