Job Summary
Plan and implement the prescribed educational curriculum to advance the intellectual, social, and physical development of typically developing children and those with disabilities. Create an engaging, developmentally appropriate classroom environment while supervising all activities in tandem with an integrated team. Develop daily routines and lesson plans based on observed interests and current levels of functioning, employing varied instructional techniques consistent with authentic assessments. Screen, observe, and document progress within the program's prescribed assessment system, communicating regularly with parents regarding academic and developmental progress. Ensure the classroom environment meets all applicable local, state, federal regulations, including Head Start standards and Texas Education Agency policies. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teaching assistants and volunteers. Maintain accurate records and submit timely reports to fulfill professional responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Highly qualified valid Texas Teaching Certificate as required by teaching assignment or acceptance to approved Alternative Certification Program and results of TEXes exam
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field
- Bachelor degree in another discipline with 18 hours of coursework in early childhood education
- ESL or Bilingual certification
- Experience working with young and school-aged children and/or teaching experience
